Sip and Dip!

Date: 2pm – 5pm Saturday November 27 2021

Venue: Alluvial Contemporary Art Space 3/39 Monkland Street Gympie Qld 4570

Cost: $55 per participant

This workshop will combine creative paper-making with positive self-transformation! In the process of making their Duets installation, “Reclaiming Women’s Voices”, Lesa and Zela spent time comparing notes on the messages they received during their own upbringings, especially the modelling they observed from their mothers. Other topics included influential books read, and transformative life events. The conversations revealed that although their mothers were very different, there are common themes in the ways children are conditioned to accept limiting messages and judgements which act to prevent the active pursuit of personal goals and dreams.

In this workshop, you will tune in to some of the limiting beliefs that were internalised during your early years … and let them go. This will be a fun and self-affirming experience with a supportive group. The workshop will include reformulating positive massages and visual symbols to replace the old destructive ones. The paper with the negative beliefs will be shredded then blended with new plant fibres to form personalised botanical papers which can be taken home and used in new creative projects. Fibres from Zela’s permaculture garden will be incorporated into the paper to symbolise life and growth.

Botanical papers similar to the one will be produced by participants.
